On Thursday, MTV said West, who will be releasing his latest album this fall, would take center stage at the yearly music awards. MTV also added that “fans will be stuck to the screen to see what the rapper has in store for the audience.”
Kanye West became the most talked about artist at the MTV Video Music Awards when he cut short Taylor Swift’s best female pop video acceptance speech and stated that Beyonce was the rightful owner of the award for the best female pop video.
Later, he apologized publicly to Swift; however music websites have been swarming with whereabouts in the most recent weeks if MTV will give him a chance to perform once again in the upcoming live music awards show.
This year, West has one nomination with his collaboration with fast-rising artist Drake, Li’l Wayne and Eminem on the hip-hop music video “Forever.” Moreover, Swift has a single nomination for her song “Fifteen” for best female video, yet MTV has not yet confirmed whether she will be performing on the September show.
Likewise, MTV announced that newcomer Drake will take center stage at the video music awards and British indie sensation Florence and the Machine also will take the stage to perform in this year’s video music awards.
This year, Lady Gaga set a record with 13 nominations, and white rapper Eminem has eight nominations, making him the most-nominated artist this year. The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will be put on air live from Los Angeles on September 12.
